On the 9th of November 2022 some 80 people gathered for a social event at the Belmont RSL hall, to discuss the USA mid-term election results which were running on a TV.
The anticipated ‘Red Wave’ did not occur but the evening was lightened by three brief, amusing, lost and confused appearances of President Biden and Dr Jill Biden (suitably attired). An excellent talk on the American election process and systems was given by an American academic.
Guests were treated to fresh hamburgers, hot dogs, and cookies cooked and served by a team of Civilisationists, washed down with drinks from the well-stocked club bar.
